My Story
I was born in Charleston, SC and moved to northern Colorado in 2008, where I currently reside in Fort Collins. I graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in business. I have my Certification in Functional Nutrition Counseling (CFNC), which allows me to use root-cause resolution techniques to assist with diet and lifestyle recommendations to reach your specific health goals. As an exercise enthusiast and outdoor explorer, I find joy in many activities like dancing, weightlifting, running (especially with my two-year-old husky/shepherd), hiking, snowboarding, and more. I have been fascinated with health, nutrition, and exercise for more than 15 years, and it’s that curiosity, along with my own personal health struggles, that has brought me to this amazing realm of functional medicine and nutrition.
My Personal Health Journey and Struggles with Food & Body Image
In my adolescence, I lacked healthy eating habits and regular exercise. My family did their best, but I wish I had guidance for better choices. I was not confident in my food choices, and this translated to not having a health self-image, to put it lightly! In middle school, I began exercising to feel better about myself. By college, I noticed changes in my body and experimented with elimination diets. Reading books, listening to podcasts, and seeking help taught me how food and physiology impact my body, mindset, and life.
In my mid-twenties, my self-confidence was better but still wavered. I shifted from eliminating foods to focusing on what to add. This transformed my relationship with food and emphasized the importance of macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, sleep, and stress reduction. Alongside my primary care physician, I consulted a functional medicine health coach who helped test my biomarkers for a clearer view of my health. Without her guidance, I would have been left guessing my health needs. I learned strategies I could implement to improve specific aspects of my health, and even just learning to tweak a few things has had profound impacts. This personalized coaching inspired me to help others address their health concerns efficiently and begin healing faster.
Our health journey is ongoing and changes over time. Since our bodies and environments change, it's important to realize that what works for you now may need to change as you get older.
“You are the hero of your own healthy journey.”
